Ex-School Business Managers (or similar) wanted.

Everything ICT is a DfE recommended procurement framework for helping schools buy anything and everything related to Information and Communications Technology (ICT). COVID-19 has meant that schools are buying more ICT than ever, and it's important we help them get it right.

Because of our rapid growth this year (we've doubled our 2019 revenues already) we're looking for two part-time, home-based people to join our School Order Processing team starting in mid- to late-September.

Both roles are school term-time only with different hours because we need to cover more of the school week. The first role is 12 hours, 10:00 till 14:00 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The second role is 20 hours, 12:00 till 15:00 on Monday, 10:00 till 15:00 Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and 10:00 till 12:00 on a Friday.

What you'll be doing:

  • Receiving orders from schools - these tyically come in via our website

  • Getting quotes from suppliers

  • Helping schools make decisions on quotes when they need it

  • Preparing on-line order forms and supplier contracts

  • Ensuring schools get what they've ordered, on time

  • Following up to ensure they are "delighted" with the Everything ICT service (obviously we want them to use us again, and again, and....)

  • Chasing payments when necessary (this is quite rare, but very important and needs to be handled sensitively for obvious reasons)

You don't need to be 'technical' or have a degree in "Difficult Computer Stuff". We leave all that to the suppliers because they're the experts. We're all about the relationships, both with the customers and with the suppliers. It's therefore very important to us that you have the following attributes:

  • Self-awareness with high levels of self-discipline and personal integrity

  • A strong work ethic and attention to detail

  • Comfortable being held accountable for the quality of your work

  • A can-do, self-starter who will just get on with things without having to be asked or told

  • Happy working at home, on your own, with little face-to-face contact with the team

  • Good on the phone and happy chatting to new people you've never met before

  • A relaxed, friendly, personality (we don't do big egos at Everything ICT)

  • Calm when things go wrong (and they will) to ensure that things are put right

  • You're not afraid to ask questions when you're not sure, or ask for help when you're struggling

  • Prepared to help colleagues when needed because you understand it's a team game

You may have kids at school and are looking for something that works around your family schedule. You may have worked in a school in the past. That would be very helpful because you'll know how school Business Managers, Administrators and Heads think and work.

Whatever your background and experience though, what we need are great people because what we're doing is important for the education of our children. Ideally we're looking for people in or around Bedford because that's where most of the team are based and if you need help and support, then it's not very far away. It's not a deal-breaker though. We have people living everywhere from London to Cumbria. For the right person, we'll find a way to make it work.

So if you think you might be the person we're looking for and have what it takes, you won't need to be told what to do next.
